My Story – Hitting Rock Bottom

(perhaps you can relate?)

12 years ago, I was extremely overweight. I suffered with severe asthma, hypothyroidism, and chronic fatigue syndrome. My doctors told me these diseases were “incurable,” and I had to ask myself some really difficult questions…

… what is the real, underlying cause of all these health problems?

… will I have to take medication the rest of my life?

… and will I ever regain my health at all?

I asked myself these questions when I hit rock bottom, the day my body just shut down. That morning, I was so drained both physically and emotionally that I literally couldn’t get out of bed or do anything at all.

There I was, a grown woman, and my mother had to take care of me again because I’d fallen so ill.

First the asthma, then the thyroid and chronic fatigue; and now it had reached a point where I couldn’t take care of myself. You can’t imagine how helpless I felt, or maybe you can, as the doctors did dozens of tests but couldn’t pinpoint exactly what was wrong.

Their only recommendation? A series of experimental medications with no end in sight.

I was at a crucial crossroads where I had to decide whether to trust my doctors who admittedly didn’t have a clear idea of what was going on…

… or to trust my body and embark on my path to health and healing all on my own. Against my doctors’ best wishes, I choose the latter, and it’s been an amazing journey ever since.

Here’s what I did…

With my health, I decided to eliminate all things confusing. I decided intuitively that health must be simple, and I decided if I didn’t “get it” immediately, it had to go.

So I completely eliminated food with labels I couldn’t pronounce, medicines I didn’t understand, scientific evidence that was dubious, all restrictive diets (full stop), calorie counting, portion control, boot camp exercise and all that pop-culture “diet stuff” that we all know doesn’t work.

Oh, and I also threw away my scales (that was the best part).

I swapped out processed, toxic foods for healthy healing, living foods that my body could recognize and assimilate. There was nothing crazy or bizarre in what I did food-wise, I just started eating delicious, whole, fresh foods. You know.. good food!

Simplicity became my mantra. I researched ancient and natural medical knowledge, I became a passionate student of yoga, and I discovered that the laws of nature are learned easily by anyone willing to listen.

And you know what? It worked…

Very quickly I started to get well. My yoga practice got stronger and stronger. My body came back into balance and healed itself naturally. A medical report confirmed what I already knew. I’d returned to excellent health; asthma-free with normal blood sugars and normal thyroid function…

One of the best things about yoga is that you can do it anywhere—anytime.

This 50-minute, full length class combines, standing, seated, dynamic and passive poses into a well-rounded and comprehensive practice that will leave you feeling light and peaceful.

You’ll find it challenging right away—but in a good way! It’s appropriate for all levels, and there are no “human pretzel” moves required, so not to worry. Many students find that an afternoon practice helps to curb hunger, relieve stress, and can keep you even-tempered and focused throughout the midday hump.

The Perfect Way to End the Day

Insomnia has reached pandemic proportions with hundreds of millions of people tossing and turning at night due to stress and anxiety. While there is no panacea for sleep difficulties, yoga is certainly the closest thing I’ve ever found.

Unwind with this 30-minute class… you can take your time with these slower-moving, floor-based poses, and allow your body to let go of all the busyness of your life. After this class, you’ll sleep like a baby.

IMPORTANT NOTE: When to Practice & How Often

Yoga for Weight Loss includes many different practices of varying length and difficulty, but please understand they are not meant to be practiced all in the same day (unless you’ve got the time and inclination!).

Most of my students choose 1-2 practices per day based on their time availability and how they’re feeling. If possible, start with at least 3 days per week of practice, and eventually, you might find that 5-6 days of practice feels natural and enjoyable.

I strongly recommend using the yoga practices in conjunction with the visualization practices included as bonuses in this program. This body-mind combo is extremely effective, and most people can start to see and feel the difference in their life very quickly with this approach.
